The 15th album by Marvin Sapp is the eighth straight gospel album to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Current Gospel Albums chart.
On the Top Christian/Gospel Albums Sales chart, the album is ranked third. The artist, who is also a newly minted label owner, released the album on his Elev8 Music & Entertainment imprint, which was distributed by ThirtyTigers, making this an extra noteworthy accomplishment for him.
The music on Substance has a Marvin Sapp vibe that is both modern and classic, consistent without being formulaic, and masterfully written with lyrics that are primarily based in the Bible. Sapp has been nominated for the 2022 Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational BET Award thanks to the lead single, “All In Your Hands.” Sapp recently gave the beautiful song a performance on ABC’s “Sound of Freedom” Juneteenth special, which is now available to watch on Hulu.
One of the album’s 11 contemplative and upbeat songs, “All In Your Hands,” is meant to give listeners newfound faith, hope, and elevation.
