TOPIC: The Meek [Open Heaven for Teens 6 January 2022]
MEMORISE: Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth. Matthew 5:5
READ: Proverbs 16:32 (KJV)
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Matthew 5:27-48; Genesis 15-17;
The meek is one who has the ability to fight back when denied his/her right, yet chooses not to. For instance, Jesus was meek to the point of death. He endured the lashes, insults and crucifixion when angels could have come to His rescue at the snap of His fingers.
Being meek is not stupidity; it is a level of Christ-like humility, When you can beat up the bully in your school, yet choose not to, you are meek. No wonder Jesus said the meek would inherit the earth. However, it is unfortunate that some people believe that Jesus meant that they would remain on this earth and rule it after His second coming. There will be a new heaven and earth (Revelation 21:1) after the second death, because this earth will pass away. What Jesus meant by the meek inheriting the earth is that they would live a good and peaceful life (Psalm 37:11) because they have control over their strength and emotions (Proverbs 16:32).
KEY POINT: The meek is blessed and stronger than any leader who wields his/her power at the slightest provocation
